The Way Out Reader

One could call it a perfect storm. The art world seems untenable, embroiled in a deep crisis that can only be understood as something with multiple causes and articulations. The search for an exit from these impasses was one of the intentions behind The Way Out, the 2021 edition of the interdisciplinary festival steirischer herbst. The Way Out of . . . features texts by contributors to the festival’s discussion program, with some additions. They search for ways out of intractable problems that have been long approaching but are now becoming as urgent as ever.

With contributions by Katherine Angel, Emma Dowling, Dorothea von Hantelmann, Thomas Hirschhorn, Hiwa K, Jason W. Moore, Evgeny Morozov, Paul B. Preciado, Quinn Slobodian, Mark Terkessidis
