Hamlet says, “The time is out of joint,” and he is right. But how do we confront a world that has fallen into the hands of authoritarian powers? We understand the word dissident as a quality, a way of distancing oneself from the (political) dictates imposed upon us—in Styria, in Austria, and in Europe. In such situations, literature develops diverse forms of resistance. These range from irony and humor to fictional solutions and essayistic analyses. Our prominent authors demonstrate all this in their latest publications. On the final day, there is a special edition of our literary show Roboter mit Senf, featuring people who are dissidents in their own unique manner and steadfastly go their own way.
