steirischer herbst meets manuskripte

steirischer herbst continues its collaboration with the literary magazine manuskripte. Andreas Unterweger and Max Höfler present their dialogue project Wenn wir was zu sagen hätten (If We Had a Say), fictional pub conversations, in a scenic reading with Pia Hierzegger. Afterward, Josef Winkler reads from his work and presents his personal relic. A short procession carries the item back to the manuskripte office, where it is part of the relics exhibition pars pro toto. Afterward, drinks will be served in the lobby.

Pia Hierzegger is an actress, director, screenwriter, and moderator. She is a long-time member of the Graz theater collective Theater im Bahnhof and is also known for her work as an actress in film and on television.

Max Höfler is a writer and artist. He writes experimental and conceptual prose and regularly participates in international readings and literary performances. In 2024, he was awarded the Rotahorn Prize, and in 2025, he read at the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize.

Andreas Unterweger is a writer, translator, and the editor of the literary magazine manuskripte. Recent publications include the novel So long, Annemarie (Droschl, 2022) and the poetry collection Haus ohne Türen (Droschl, 2025).

Josef Winkler is a multi-award-winning writer; among others, he has received the Georg Büchner Prize and the Grand Austrian State Prize for Literature. He most recently published the novel Das Glück ist ein Engel mit ernstem Gesicht (Suhrkamp, 2026).
