In a time of growing hate speech and post-truth falsehood, should there be boundaries to what you can say in public without hurting others or intentionally deceiving them? Where does harm begin, and where does freedom of speech end? Should everything be permitted, even libel or incitement to violence? Do limits on speech mean limits to thought? What of the hate that lands on real people, the disinformation that hardens, and the platforms that carry all of it and remain largely unregulated?

Florian Klenk is a journalist, author, podcaster, jurist, and the editor-in-chief of the weekly Falter. He has received numerous national and international awards for his work and has published many books, most recently Ausreden: Elfriede Blauensteiner; Ein Bekenntnis (Zsolnay, 2026).

Konrad Paul Liessmann is a philosopher, essayist, and cultural journalist. He has received numerous awards, including the Austrian State Prize for Cultural Journalism and the Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art, First Class. His most recent publication is Gott? Ein Streitgespräch (coauthored with Johannes Hartl; Herder, 2026).
