Vessels: Engine Room renders memory tangible as a spatial, medial, and material process. At Kunstraum TROST, Jakob Kolb creates a sculptural installation that functions as a memory device, linking live performance, storage, and acoustic decay. The central elements are two “source performances” in which Kolb creates an acoustic snapshot in dialogue with the audience. This material is fed into a sculptural memory system and circulates through the space in feedback loops. The sculptures carry the sound, which is transformed with each pass: Details vanish, narratives morph, and memories begin to audibly disintegrate.

The installation is accessible as an autonomous “reverberation space” for the duration of the exhibition. Visitors can experience how the generated material progressively erodes over the course of the days and gradually dissolves beyond recognition.
