“To be a Flower, is profound Responsibility,” wrote Emily Dickinson in her poem “Bloom” (1865). The exhibition 30% Dandelion understands the flower as a relative of humans and as a figure of resistance, beauty, and connection. Based on the leitmotif of humans being one-third plant, cultural- and natural-history objects from the Universalmuseum Joanneum and numerous contemporary artworks enter into dialogue. They negotiate ecological crises, colonial entanglements, and questions of temporality, care, and self-empowerment.

Here, the flower becomes an invitation to come together: to see plants and other living beings as coactors, to explore relationships, and to shift perspectives. Many works revolve around how a “making-kin” and life together as equals can succeed—calling for attention, patience, and a willingness to go beyond ourselves.
