Freiheitsplatz (Freedom Square, 2025)

This year, steirischer herbst kicks off on Freiheitsplatz. Moving from there to Schauspielhaus, the participants of LIGNA’s audio performance explore contested ideas of freedom.

Inside Schauspielhaus, director Ekaterina Degot gives her traditional opening speech. Afterward, visitors return to Freiheitsplatz, where drinks and music by the Paganin Soatnquartett await them.

Two further performances—by Manuel Pelmuș and Frédéric Gies as well as by Ivo Dimchev—take place at Helmut List Halle at 20:30, before the opening day comes to a close with a party.
