“The use of slowness. It takes time for something to exist/emerge. Allowing time to exist. Time for it to unfold freely in space.” As part of a SHAPE+ Artist Residency, Daniel Szwed creates open spaces following predetermined structures with Christina Ruf and Erik Emil Eskildsen. At the center of their joint musical process is the slow development and emergence of sonic textures. Every sound should be allowed to unfold slowly and be shaped by the musicians. “In this slowing down, this intensified moment, the spaces in-between become more apparent. The space between the musicians, between the sounds, between the musicians and the listeners.” To offer the audience an immersive experience, the sounds are spread out in space by the Dom im Berg’s forty-eight-channel Ambisonics sound system.
