This year, 350 project proposals from 58 countries were submitted to the CTM Radio Lab on the topic of “sustain.” An international jury selected two of them: MAPS: Electronic Resonances by Concepción Huerta & Fe Sexta and IRL by USER SYNDROME (Rhéa Dally and Freya Edmondes). Ö1 Kunst zum Hören presents the radio version of IRL on air as part of ORF musikprotokoll.
The duo USER SYNDROME consists of the Beirut-based artist Rhéa Dally and the improvisational poet Freya Edmondes, aka Elvin Brandhi, from the UK. Following the motto “Don’t think about tomorrow; work with what you have today,” USER SYNDROME improvises with objects that they have found in real life—everyday items.
IRL was created as part of the CTM Radio Lab 2024 in cooperation with Deutschlandfunk Kultur / Klangkunst, CTM Festival, ORF musikprotokoll, Ö1 Sound Art: Kunst zum Hören, tekhnē, and Goethe-Institut.
