The Schul-herbst-Tage take place annually, over several days, to get to know methods of contemporary artists and various aspects of steirischer herbst. Formats are designed together with the participating educational institutions and partners in the previous year.
Schul-herbst-Tage '24 focused on the possibilities of using art to tell stories that convey facts, fantasies and blind spots in our history.
Under the title Im rußigen Rössel am Oeversee (The Sooty Little Horse at Oeversee Park), six educational institutions used seven formats to explore the past, present and possible future of the former Rösselmühle mill in Graz's Oeverseepark, which recently burned down.
A play in three acts was created by young people on the basis of on-site research. The production used sound collages and an experimental stage set in the middle of the vacant industrial site to tell the story of a place that has been surrounded by myths, (real estate) speculation and weeds for years.
