What is something worth—an expensive car, good morals, or a positive self-image? Life throws us somewhere, and we set off. Sometimes we go far, sometimes just somewhere else. Chance plays a major role, and our childhood—every success, every humiliation, and every madness—haunts us relentlessly. Zaid Alsalame’s show uses an age-old tale to question how we live together in today’s world. Some things can be told better when the tongue slips and contradictions are exposed. This evening, Alsalame is radically honest. It won’t be funny!
Zaid Alsalame (1992, Baghdad, Iraq) is an actor and theater-maker. He came to Austria in 2015, where he learned German and, after completing his studies in electronics, began to stage his first performances, initially without language. Later, he integrated text and autobiographical elements. In addition to collaborating on projects such as InterACT – Werkstatt für Forumtheater and Straßenlabor für Zivilcourage, Alsalame appeared as a guest actor with Theater im Bahnhof and starred in Pia Hierzegger’s film Altweibersommer (2025). He is currently working on his first screenplay. He lives in Graz.
