 | my space Documentary film programme for children and young people
| |
What is alien, what provokes, what do we want to break away from, where might it go? How alien can our own body be? How much closeness does sexuality need? Can distance to other religions and cultures be bridged, can we come closer to them as we do when we learn the rules of an unknown game?
Focusing on the themes of the festival, in a series of documentary films for children and young people, the “my space” film programme sets out to examine at what scenes the negotiation of closeness and distance plays an important role. In globalised living conditions, the space of young people must not only be demarcated from the world of adults, but also in terms of culture and religion. The result is that young people often get pushed onto the field of political and social exclusion that they do not, however, accept as a matter of course. Individual, adolescent conflicts are exacerbated by socio-political problems and norms that penetrate the private sphere: Does their family, for example, accept their boyfriend or girlfriend with the “wrong” passport, with a different faith, a different lifestyle? In selected film programmes for different age groups,
“my space” shows that the documentary film genre is by no means a privilege of adult culture, but rather can give children and young people profound insights into the reality of children and young people.
